Hands in New York

Hands, pen on paper, 12x12", 2008. The text, which is written in a pattern around the hands, tells a story of the first time I went to New York. The story begins in the middle of the circle in the upper left corner. The hand gestures all relate to different events of the story.

Sun

Sun, acrylic with colored pencil and chalk pastel on paper, 8x10", 2009. I wanted to incorporate my love for math into a painting. I used matrices, graphs, tables and numbers as the background for the sky.

Crown

Crown, paper, 7" diameter, 5.5" height, 2008. I constructed a crown using only paper and an x-acto knife (no glue, tape or adhesive of any kind). I used tongue and groove technique to hold the crown together.

My Mind's Eye

Mind's Eye, digital, 8.5x11", 2010. I created a graphic of me and my imagination. I scanned in the fabric of an Indian sari along with many of my own drawings, which I live-traced in illustrator.

Type Portrait

Type Portrait, digital, 11x17”, 2009. I used the letters from one font to create a self-portrait. I worked from a picture of myself and I did not distort any of the letters.

Water Lily

Water Lily, linoleum print, 3x4", 2010. I used various sized chisels to carve out the linoleum. I love the right edge of the print where the linoleum started to chip away.
Water Lily – colored, linoleum print with water soluble color pencil, 3x4", 2010. Using water soluble colored pencil, I colored in one of the prints that I had used too much ink on and, therefore, had not turned out so well.
